About the organization
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.
Assess the current Asian-American Resource Center (AARC) volunteer program using a SWOT analysis. Identify gaps in the program and systemic obstacles in the volunteering process. Identify community groups to work with for reoccurring volunteer engagement. Create a program manual for the volunteer programming. Research emerging community needs to help AARC provide services and programs. Assess current community needs for services and programs in the Korean, Vietnamese, and Burmese communities and identify potential volunteer efforts that may be incorporated. Seek collaborations and partnerships to further diversify programming. Promote AARC volunteer opportunities and increase partnership with community groups. Implement volunteer opportunities that serve underserved Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. Create a social media campaign and online presence to increase volunteer interest.
