EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) strives to protect human health and the environment by reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from mobile sources and the fuels that power them, advancing clean fuels and clean fuel technologies, and encouraging business practices and travel choices that minimize emissions.

This position is in the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR), Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ), Compliance Division which is responsible for implementing federal programs for the registration and regulation of fuels and fuel additives and/or the registration and certification of vehicles and engines.

Duties

OTAQ’s Compliance Division is seeking IT Specialists interested in working with compliance and registration data and processes. We are looking for talented candidates who are self-starters with strong communications skills and an aptitude for working with a diverse team of stakeholders to support the complete lifecycle of our IT applications and data systems including:

- Implement new software applications to meet program needs;
- Participate in modifying, testing, deploying and supporting applications;
- Ensure adherence with information security/assurance policies, principles and practices
- Manage data in a relational database
- Use SQL or a similar language to query, analyze, and share data
- Apply and engage in Agile design and development processes and principles

Qualifications

Experience and/or education that demonstrates you can (1) collect customer requirements, properly interpret those requirements, and present them through written or oral communication and visual aids; and (2) assist in the research and evaluation of new application development methodologies and frameworks.

Ability to maintain application software; skill using standard data gathering and analysis techniques to collect, review and present technical information; and, knowledge of or experience with Agile design and development processes and principles.
And a demonstrated willingness to learn and ability to work closely with other team members.

Salary

GS-7/9, Promotion Potential to GS-13
