About the organization
L.A. Works is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer action center that creates and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area. We strive to empower Angelenos to address pressing social issues through volunteerism and community collaborations.
Please note this position is an AmeriCorps VISTA position at LACADA through L.A. Works. It is full-time, up to 40 hrs/week, with a living stipend.
• Assist with developing or augmenting existing policies and procedures for volunteer, internship, and employee recruitment and retention
•Develop an orientation manual for onboarding of volunteers, interns and prospective employees
•Schedule and design intern, volunteer and prospective employee orientations
•Maintain and update the volunteer and intern database
•Maintain communications with volunteers and interns through monthly contact
•Recruit and schedule initial interviews with volunteers, interns and prospective employees
•Design strategies for volunteer, intern and employee retention
•Develop a platform for recognition for volunteer and intern services
•Establish a system of quality assurance to ensure compliance
•Develop communication strategies and protocol for outreach
•Calendar internal and community events
•Attend offsite community events to strengthen social network
•Train and educate community stakeholders on volunteer, intern and employment opportunities
•Maintain communication and progress to AmeriCorps and onsite supervisor(s)
•Strengthen and develop new partnerships with community-based organizations for recruitment
•Research and coordinate venues for recognition to secure in-kind space and donation for volunteer and intern recognition events
•Complete tasks as assigned by onsite supervisor(s)
• At least 18 years of age
•Must have a reliable source of transportation.
•Valid California Driver’s License and proof of personal auto insurance is required. Hire is contingent upon agency insurability.
•Not currently on probation or parole. Must be discharged for at least three years.
•Ability to work well in a team environment.
•Good interpersonal skills.
•Effective communication skills including strong verbal and writing skills.
•Public speaking experience.
•Attention to detail; ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
•Familiarity with HR protocol, personnel recruitment including volunteers and interns.
•Knowledge of in-kind recruitment and fund raising.
•Strong computer skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
•Must be able to pass a criminal history background screening (Live-scan), and receive clearance from the DOJ and FBI; as well as maintain annual CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, physical exam, and negative Tuberculosis test results.
$791.70 biweekly, before taxes
