AmeriCorps VISTA- Outreach Coordinator
Catholic Charities USA
About the organization
Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western York without regard to religion, race or age, understands that the best hope for the future is optimum emotional, mental and physical health for all. Catholic Charities works to empower individuals, children and families to achieve and maintain meaningful and healthy lives within their communities. As a primary advocate for those in need, particularly the most vulnerable and those without a voice, Catholic Charities assesses and meets specific needs of our community members. The expertise and compassion of its staff, a continued focus on positive outcomes and the ability to change as needs change are agency hallmarks. The VISTA member will be responsible for reaching out to other service providers to better coordinate the services available to the public, assessing what needs aren't being met, and working collaboratively to develop new ways to meet the needs.
The VISTA member will work collaboratively with our partners at the Mobile Safety Net Team to coordinate service Hubs in 3 communities, to bring together service providers in those areas and better advertise the available resources to the public. The member will also work on expanding the HUB model into other poor communities where services are not yet coordinated in one location for easy access. The member will also expand the emergency services that Catholic Charities provides around Erie County by networking with similar providers and food pantries to better coordinate service delivery and assess areas of need that are not currently being met. From this needs assessment the member will work with the supervisor to develop a plan to meet the identified needs.
