About the organization

Girls Empowerment Network's mission is to ignite the power in girls by teaching them the skills to thrive and believe in their ability to be unstoppable. Girls in grades 3-12 experience our self-efficacy curriculum at schools, camps, and conferences in Central Texas, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.

Duties

Girls Empowerment Network currently has 6 AmeriCorps VISTA positions open: AmeriCorps VISTA Leader, Central Texas Community Engagement VISTA, Houston Community Engagement VISTA, Central Texas Program Capacity Building VISTA, Central Texas Fundraising VISTA, and the Marketing & Communications VISTA.

The VISTA project will support increased growth and capacity of Girl Connect. VISTA members will help increase our organizational scale/reach to result in more volunteers supporting our work, greater community awareness/engagement with our mission, stronger relationships with schools and community partners, and increased financial resources. This will allow us to ultimately serve many more girls throughout Texas with this life changing content through Girl Connect.

Qualifications

Strong personal alignment with and a commitment to the mission of Girls Empowerment Network.

A leader with a can-do spirit and a natural ability to build positive relationships with other people very quickly.

Personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and anti-racist practices.

High level of integrity, personal motivation, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.

A self-starter who embraces new challenges and is internally motivated to succeed.

Strong communication skills, both in-person and through email.

Comfortable with and skilled in trouble-shooting challenges and coming to responsible solutions.

The ability to balance multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously to deliver high-quality work in a collaborative environment.

Salary

$15,000 (with eligibility for healthcare coverage, education award, relocation assistance, and childcare assistance).
