AmeriCorps VISTA Leader (Pikes Peak United Way)
AmeriCorps VISTA Program (Colorado Springs, Colorado)
About the organization
VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) was created by Sargent Shriver, in the same spirit as the Peace Corps. VISTA members spend a year working to alleviate poverty by sustainably and indirectly building the capacity of nonprofits & similar community-based organizations. Pikes Peak United Way is a prominent nonprofit in the Colorado Springs community which also serves as the "hub" for an AmeriCorps team of VISTA members - each working solo in community nonprofits. The VISTA Leader works to ensure VISTA members are supported and sites operate based on VISTA program guidelines. The VISTA Leader connects AmeriCorps to United Way in Colorado Springs, and to the nonprofits served by the team (in the cause areas of: poverty, housing insecurity, health transportation, family homelessness, and senior services). Apply for VISTA Leadership in Colorado! Be a national service ambassador once again, to a community that can use your support!
