CAN partners with children, youth, and families from under-resourced Washtenaw County neighborhoods to create better futures for themselves and to improve the communities in which they live. CAN strives to support communities by offering free education, stabilization, and community-building programming throughout Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, MI.

Duties

The VISTA Leader will take a lead role in the recruitment, training, orientation, offboarding, and general administrative support of CAN's 13+ VISTAs as well as 25+ VISTA Summer Associates. They will co-lead a thorough orientation that familiarizes VISTA staff with CAN's policies, procedures, curriculum, and key tools to be successful in their service. The VISTA Leader will create and implement new training modules tailored to the unique needs of CAN's VISTA staff. After the creation of the trainings are complete, the VISTA will work on institutionalizing these trainings so that they can be used for future VISTA cohorts.

Qualifications

Must have successfully completed a full service term as either a VISTA, NCCC or AmeriCorps State/National Member or is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer

Must be at least 18 years of age (as required through AmeriCorps VISTA)

Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Self-directed worker willing to take initiative and risks

Able to work in a flexible environment

Able to commit to 40-hour workweek for one year

Looking for candidates with experience in leadership, recruitment, non-profit management, youth development , social services , and/or community organization
