About the organization

MENTOR Virginia is an anchor organization that promotes effective youth mentoring by increasing the capacity and sustainability of mentoring programs and providing resources to support the mentoring field.

MENTOR Virginia’s mission is to foster quality mentoring relationships that empower, elevate, and encourage young people.

Every young person in Virginia who needs a mentor will have a trained mentor.

MENTOR Virginia (formerly Virginia Mentoring Partnership) is an independent, 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1993 to provide training and program assistance to mentors and mentoring programs around Virginia. Today, MENTOR Virginia promotes effective mentoring in Virginia by increasing the capacity of mentoring programs, developing new programs, and advocating for resources to support the mentoring field.


As a MVA VISTA member, you will join our team of full-time VISTA Members serving throughout Virginia. MVA works with VISTA Members directly throughout their year of service. Our VISTA Members serve with partner organizations to support each organization's internal capacity. During your year of service, you will be serving with Computers4Kids in Charlottesville, VA to support the development of mentoring programs at that organization.

Help to build an equitable community through mentorship and access to technology C4K was founded to help close the gap that exists between youth who can afford to have a home computer and those who cannot. For over 20 years C4K has provided technological support and guidance through their afterschool and mentoring programs. C4K is part of the global The Clubhouse Network (TCN). C4K’s goal is to expand into a STEAM based group mentoring format incorporated by TCN concept. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will establish a mentor retention plan that will recognize, celebrate, and receive feedback from volunteers. Create and implement an outreach and communication plan that will use local events/media and social media. Explore opportunities for community involvement and outreach and represent C4K at diverse community events. Create a youth-led social media campaign by creating policies and procedures for engaging and training the C4K youth to share their voice and story.
