About the organization

Come join our VISTA team in beautiful Albuquerque - home to the lower Rio Grande valley, the Sandia Mountains, and the best chili in the Mountain West! The One ABQ Volunteers program is about inspiring everyone in the community to come together in the spirit of service. Help grow our ranks of volunteers and expand the capacity of City departments to engage volunteers in their initiatives. We are currently seeking candidates that are enthusiastic, organized, and have a passion for community interaction. One ABQ VISTA members will serve alongside senior level city staff to help create a best in class, city wide volunteer program. Scale up the One ABQ Volunteers program by helping to streamline processes, develop recruitment and recognition strategies, and collect and analyze data. City Hall is a great place to learn new skills and grow your professional network!


1) Recruit candidates for volunteer service with the City;
2) Develop partnerships with community-based organizations to understand their volunteer initiatives and support needs;
3) Establish relationships with educational institutions
4) Design and update a database of volunteers and volunteer opportunities,
5) Work with City departments to ensure alignment with the Mayor’s strategic priorities
6) Provide outreach and marketing materials to promote One ABQ Volunteers
7) Present materials about volunteering to stakeholder groups when needed.


● College degree, or combination of HS degree + experience
● Strong initiative and ability to work with limited supervision
● Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with preferred experience developing
written training materials
● Ability to collaborate with diverse audiences, understand challenges, problem solve, and
develop effective solutions
● Leadership, organizational, and presentation skills
● Time management
● Support all staff, volunteer, and community service workers to ensure programs are run
● Team player
● Results oriented
● Strong organizational skills
● Positive attitude and good sense of humor
● Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
● Able to travel as needed to events around the city; work related travel reimbursed
