Duties

Responsibilities
• This person will work with current Department staff to supports expanded need for management and consultation for COVID-19 outbreaks and clusters, including analysis of whole genome sequencing data.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in epidemiology or a closely related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of related experience; or
• Master's degree in epidemiology or closely related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of related experience; or
• Bachelor's degree in a closely related science or nursing degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years epidemiology experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive knowledge of and experience in outbreak management of communicable diseases, including knowledge of the use of whole genome sequencing in outbreak investigation.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with Division staff, representatives of local health departments, health care providers, and other partners.
• Skill in leadership, planning and organization. Experience with North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System or other Maven-based surveillance system preferred.
• Considerable knowledge of computer operating systems, network systems and data communication systems.
• Thorough knowledge of epidemiologic principles, surveillance and investigation techniques, descriptive statistics, statistical analysis and interpretation of statistical data. Knowledge of analysis of whole genome sequencing data preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of biostatistics.

This is a one year contract position working remotely in North Carolina. Preference give to NC residents.
