SCA’s mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land.


Serve as the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Leader at Virgin Islands National Park! The YCC Leader will coordinate six youth ranging 15-18, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Leader will commute to site daily and will have weeknights and weeknights off.

Leader responsibilities include:
- Ensuring team safety, administrative reporting
- Supporting the biological, ecological, and environmental education for the youth enrolled
- Operating hand and power tools, motorized vehicles.

This work requires physical exertion, such as walking over wet, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing, or similar activities. Work requires average agility and dexterity. The majority of the work is performed outdoors; temperature and weather extremes may be encountered.

The crew will work for 7 weeks, Leader will work 9 weeks (1 week prior to the start of the program, 1 week after for close out/reporting).
Examples of work projects: Removal of invasive plants on trails; power-washing walkways and structures; painting tables, shelters, trash cans and similar utility features; assisting with wildlife and vegetation monitoring.
Mandatory Virtual Leader Training: 6/21/21 - 6/25/21
Onsite Project Work: 6/30/21 - 8/18/21 (7 total work weeks with 7/5/21 observered as a holiday).


First Aid/CPR. Needs to be someone local to VI because housing isn't provided. Youth leadership experience.
