About the organization
VISTAs in the Piedmont (V.I.P.) is sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont (UWP), which is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization located in Spartanburg, SC. UWP is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living and working in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. United Way of the Piedmont is a regional leader in collective impact through their Behavioral Health Taskforce, Financial Stability Taskforce, and Born Learning Initiative.
VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) is an AmeriCorps program that focuses on fighting poverty in communities across the United States. The VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) Program is a community-based program that focuses on building the capacity of nonprofit organizations to alleviate poverty in the Piedmont region of South Carolina. Since 2006, over 250 individuals have served in the VIP program, impacting over 50 nonprofit agencies and countless individuals and families throughout Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties.

United Way of the Piedmont is looking for high-impact, results-driven candidates to lead the way in our collective impact approach to alleviating poverty. Join our dynamic team to be part of grassroots change in Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties increasing access to behavioral healthcare, education, and increasing financial stability.
As part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program, you will work full time at a local non-profit, and spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with other VISTA members to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability.

The Member will be responsible for increasing the capacity of an area nonprofit organization through:
Grant writing and fund development
Volunteer recruitment and training
Marketing and communications
Program assessment, development, and implementation
Data collection, research, and analysis
Community outreach and engagement
