We are the only charter school in California that strategically recruits students and families that have been left behind by the current education system. As a result, 92% of our students are considered low-income and 50% are classified as English-Learners. After 10 years, our model is beginning to see results: 95% of the ACE High School Class of 2016 have persisted to their 2nd year of college. We are looking for exceptional English educators to join our team! You are insatiably curious about how to motivate students to engage in learning through community building and rigorous, standards-aligned instruction. You integrate strategies for English Learners and students with disabilities seamlessly into your lessons. Above all, you are a patient optimist - you believe that every student is capable of graduating from college.
At our high school, we offer the following courses:
At the middle school level, we offer:
5th-8th grade English and/or Humanities
Maintain the unwavering belief in the extraordinary potential of every student.
Maintain a growth mindset with all stakeholders.
Build authentic relationships with students by serving as a mentor; consistently reinforce the belief that all students have the capacity to be successful through college.
Build authentic relationships with families through school events, phone calls and conferences.
Facilitate students’ mastery of academic standards through long-term planning, daily and weekly lesson plans, and execution of rigorous and engaging daily instruction.
Collaborate with ACE Learning Specialists to support a full-inclusion model of Special Education to the greatest extent possible..
Create a warm yet firm classroom culture through consistent implementation of behavior ladders.
Teaching experience in San Jose or a community of similar demographics.
Experience working with diverse student populations, including ELs and students with disabilities.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required.
Valid California State Teaching Credential or equivalent and transferable teaching license from another state
Intern credential accepted
We are prepared to consider qualified candidates with the intent to enroll in an intern credential program.
To perform essential functions for the role, you should be able to:
Talk, hear and communicate with both adults and children
Use hands or fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
Walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
Occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds and climb ladders
In terms of vision, have close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
