Maternal Child Health Advisor

About Global Health Promise

We were founded in 2007 to address the unmet needs of female sex workers [FSW] who are pregnant and mothers and therir children. We conduct research [see our website for publications], which informs our programs and advocacy and to build strategic partnerships. In 2022 we launched a program in sub-Saharan Africa to provide matneral health to pregnant FSW, health care and education for their children, and economic empowerment for the mothers.

Duties

  • Work with Director to respond to messages from local partners regarding the maternal health of pregnant FSW who need health care or who are enrolled in our program;
  • Respond to our local partners regarding health care needs of children of FSW;
  • Work with our staff and local staff to identify solutions to other urgent needs of FSW and their children, including food insecurity, malnutrition, and housing.

Qualifications

  1. RN with at least three years experience addressing maternal and child health in sub-Saharan Africa;
  2. ability to quickly respond to messages from local partners;
  3. financial management of health care expenses;
  4. experience designing and improving health care programs;
  5. experience working with local NGOs; potential travel opportunities;
  6. experience with grant writing and fund raising a plus;
  7. potential opportunities for research;
  8. prefer Master's degree or additional experience. See our website for publications and our social media for posts on our programs.

NOTE: as we receive inquiries from our partners every day, this position can be shared between two nurses. Time commitment is at least one hour per day but it may take two or more hours for the first two months for training and to become familiar with the program and local partners.
