AmeriCorps Disaster Recovery Team - Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance

About SBP

Help Craven County recover from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence by serving with AmeriCorps! SBP, a social impact organization focused on disaster resilience and recovery, is hiring two AmeriCorps members to serve with Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance. The Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance (CCDRA) is a long term recovery group (LTRG) formed in 2017 after Hurricane Matthew. CCDRA’s vision is to continue assisting those still affected by Hurricanes Matthew and Florence with long-term recovery and unmet needs assistance and to be an ongoing resource for all future disasters in Craven County.

Duties

  • Deliver orders of tools and materials to construction sites via company vehicle.
  • Prepare orders assigned by supervisor, including pulling tools and materials from the warehouse or picking them up from a local vendor.
  • Must be able to satisfy a Motor Vehicle Records/Driver History Check
  • Assist with keeping a clean, safe and organized warehouse and project sites.
  • Assist with tracking, organizing, repairing, and cleaning tools.
  • Ensure that all construction work is of the highest quality.
  • Actively participate in construction projects, completing each phase of construction on schedule with or without the presence of volunteers.
  • Interact professionally and maintain a positive attitude when interacting with other team members, staff, homeowners, and volunteers.
  • Maintain the ability to perform strenuous, physical labor in different climates, over long periods of time.
  • Supervise, participate alongside, and provide effective training and constructive feedback to volunteers who are completing insulation, drywall, mudding, painting, flooring, trim, doors, and other phases of construction. AmeriCorps Volunteer and Client Service Coordinator
  • Conduct outreach activities with the goal of recruiting more volunteers.
  • Respond to volunteer requests, questions, or general inquiries via email and phone in a timely fashion, maintaining an energetic and positive attitude.
  • Coordinate logistics for multiple volunteer groups and serve as the point of contact for current, previous, and future volunteers and groups.
  • Accurately document and track all volunteer records, including contributions, feedback, communication, and trip logistics, with strong attention to detail through the use of software such as Google Sheets, Salesforce, and Formstack.
  • Deliver compelling volunteer orientations that articulate the enduring needs of our clients.
  • Participate in outreach and planning for volunteer special events that support the goals of the AmeriCorps project.
  • Identify and support prospective clients, working with them to complete an application for assistance either in person, via phone, or video platforms such as FaceTime or Zoom.
  • As assigned, assist clients with their application in person, via phone, or video platforms such as FaceTime or Zoom.
  • Prepare and present prospective client cases to site leadership for funding and construction.
  • Assist clients in navigating and applying for external funding to support specific recovery needs.
  • Manage a caseload of 30-40 clients, acting as a reliable point of contact through their initial application for assistance through the rebuilding process.
  • Refer clients who are in need of housing, food, or other supports to appropriate service providers.
  • Input client data and upload documents into Salesforce and update case notes daily.

Qualifications

  1. Be at least 17 years of age for the Volunteer and Client Service Coordinator role, or at least 21 years of age for the Project Lead and Supply & Logistics Coordinator role
  2. Have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  3. Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
  4. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be able to provide documentation of vaccination status prior to enrollment
  5. Ability to commit to serving full-time, Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm and an average of two Saturdays a month. AmeriCorps members serve an average of 42.5 hours per week to complete 1700 hours of service during a temporary 10-month service term.
