About Montana Campus Compact

Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across our state. Our work to improve community life and educate students about civic and social responsibility is critically important. Our world requires thoughtful, compassionate, knowledgeable, and engaged leaders. We need a workforce that understands the critical role of individuals in a community. Higher education is an excellent place to teach and learn civic engagement. Through partnerships with AmeriCorps, Reach Higher Montana, the Governor’s Office of Community Service, and other funding partners, MTCC offers a broad spectrum of initiatives, training, scholarships, and awards that encourage and recognize community service and enable service-learning professional development.

Duties

The Montana State University Office of Student Engagement aims to create opportunities for MSU students to engage with the student body and community. Through programs, events, and community service, the Office of Student Engagement strives to empower students and generate leaders on campus, in the community, and in life after college. The AmeriCorps member will serve as a College Coach to address retention and attainment by addressing student’s questions and concerns about moving off-campus. The AmeriCorps member will provide advising and resources around off-campus housing options including finding a roommate, property manager relations, and rental education. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
