About Marine Mammal Commission

In 1972, the Marine Mammal Protection Act established the Marine Mammal Commission to provide independent oversight of the marine mammal conservation policies and programs being carried out by federal regulatory agencies. We are an independent federal agency of the United States Government. The Marine Mammal Commission is a wonderful place to work and would be a great assignment for a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.

Duties

  • Providing the Executive Director with expertise and advice on compliance with appropriations law, OMB Circulars and memoranda, and other related financial laws, regulations and policies.
  • Ensuring internal control reviews are completed within assigned schedules.
  • Ensuring prompt follow-up and resolution of audit findings.
  • Providing contract administration, purchasing control and monitoring, and procurement cost estimates and planning for the Agency.
  • Managing and analyzing overall personnel situation as may be required for budget, staffing patterns, recruitment, vacancies, etc.

Qualifications

Applicant must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:

  • Communicating recommendations, orally and in writing on budget requests and/or justifications;
  • Preparing work assignments for staff members to ensure timely completion;
  • and Evaluating human capital services to advise on personnel actions.
