Peace Corps Paraguay is seeking to engage the local market on the requirements listed below.

COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAM SPECIALIST- CH/PS

POSITION FUNCTION

The Program Specialist (PS) is responsible for supporting the assigned Program Manager (PM) and the Director of Programming and Training (DPT) in the design, implementation and evaluation of Peace Corps programming and training, primarily focused on one project sector. Work mainly focused on: identification of sites for incoming Volunteers, the design, implementation and evaluation of technical trainings, and Volunteer support. Functions under the supervision of an assigned PM and the DPT.

MINIMUN REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

Licenciado/Bachelor’s degree (B.S., B.A.) in relevant field, and minimum 3 years of experience in rural community development or public health; or 3 years of College/University studies are required and a minimum of 5 years of experience in rural community development or public health.

Language Proficiency: Level IV (fluent) spoken and written English and Spanish is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success working in project management or youth health related projects, focusing on areas such as working with rural families and schools, health posts and supporting community projects.
  • Demonstrated working at the grass roots development in health promotion community development.
  • Knowledge of Paraguayan culture, institutions, NGOs, and current country needs.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement specific trainings, workshops, and other activities.
  • Ability to write technical manuals and reports in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to mentor and counsel professional adults.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility related skills.
  • Must know how to operate Microsoft Office, Outlook, and computer use.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a manual (stick shift), four-wheel drive vehicle.
  • Availability to travel throughout Paraguay about 60% of time, either accompanied by the PM or alone.
  • Work permission to legally perform duties in Paraguay.
  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate orally in Guarani, especially in front of large groups.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary & benefits equivalent to US Embassy Local Compensation Plan
  • Basic annual salary range – PYG 183,499,693 to PYG 275,249,519
