Peace Corps and ALEX AND ANI™ Team Up to Support Girls’ Education through New Kindred Cord Collection
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 7, 2016 – Today the Peace Corps and ALEX AND ANI announced the launch of the new Kindred Cord Daisy collection in support of the Let Girls Learn initiative. Launched by the President and First Lady Michelle Obama last year, Let Girls Learn seeks to expand educational opportunities for girls around the world. The new collection will directly benefit Peace Corps volunteer projects around the world through the Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn Fund.
“We are thrilled to partner with ALEX AND ANI to support the important task of increasing access to education for girls and young women around the world,” Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet said. “From partners across the U.S. government, to the private sector, to everyday Americans, we are so grateful to everyone who has rallied behind Let Girls Learn.”
The Kindred Cord Daisy collection will be available at ALEX AND ANI stores nationwide, alexandani.com and authorized retailers. For each Kindred Cord Daisy ($21 each) purchased, ALEX AND ANI will donate 20 percent of the purchase price to the Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn Fund. One hundred percent of the Kindred Cord Daisy donation will go toward Peace Corps volunteer projects that directly benefit girls’ education and complement the resources that local communities contribute towards these projects.
“ALEX AND ANI is proud of its newest partnership in support of the Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn Fund.” ALEX AND ANI, CHARITY BY DESIGN SVP Nicki Maher remarked. “The goal to educate and empower girls across the world is one we know that our customers will stand behind as this is an impactful and transformative initiative. We are eager to join forces to expand our reach and passion to empower girls around the globe.”
As part of an U.S. Government initiative, Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn Program encourages grassroots, community-led solutions in the countries where Peace Corps volunteers serve. Since the launch of Let Girls Learn, with the help of corporate partners and individual donors from all over the U.S., Peace Corps has funded more than 100 Let Girls Learn projects in 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Central America. In addition, more than 800 Peace Corps volunteers have already received training to become catalysts for community-led change to improve girls’ access to education and empowerment.
