Anderson Appointed Chief Information Officer
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 30, 2003 – Peace Corps Director Gaddi H. Vasquez recently announced the appointment of Edward Anderson as the new Chief Information Officer of the Peace Corps. Mr. Anderson assumed his responsibilities on October 14.
Prior to working with the Peace Corps, Mr. Anderson served as interim CEO of GTG Solutions, a provider of strategic information technology and business solutions based in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has also served as vice president and CIO of AmeriChoice Health Services, vice president and senior business information officer of Sodexho Marriott Services, and director of business operations at Iridium, LLC. In addition, he has held several other senior management positions at communication technology firms.
Mr. Anderson received his Bachelor of Science and Arts degree in Management Information Systems from American University in Washington, D.C.
The Chief Information Officer is a senior policy-making position, responsible for strategizing and directing the information technology functions for the agency. Mr. Anderson will serve as the first-line adviser to the Peace Corps Director and other senior agency officials on matters related to information technology.
Since 1961, more than 170,000 volunteers have served in the Peace Corps, working in such diverse fields as education, health, HIV/AIDS education and awareness, information technology, business development, the environment, and agriculture. Peace Corps volunteers must be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years of age. Peace Corps service is a two-year commitment.
