Riz Gras

An African fried rice.


  • 2 cups rice
  • 3-4 tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil
  • Salt


  • Sauté onions, garlic, and tomatoes in oil for 5 minutes over medium-low heat.
  • Add in bay leaves and bouillon cube.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Add rice and 4 cups water.
  • Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes on low heat.
  • Serve hot.
