Indonesian Fruit Dessert
Ingredients
- 1/2 papaya
- 2 chayotes (small, green squash)
- 1/2 green melon (scraped into crescent-shaped chunks)
- 1/2 half a pineapple (chopped into small chunks)
- 3 tablespoons betel juice (use almond extract as a substitute)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- Water
Syrup
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons lemon or lime juice
- 5 cups water
Directions
- Soak the papaya in water for 30 minutes.
- Drain water and rinse papaya.
- Cut in half and scrape fruit into crescent-shaped chunks.
- In a small pot, mix water and sugar.
- Bring mixture to a boil until sugar dissolves.
- Add chayote and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove chayote then peel and chop into small chunks.
- Make syrup by combining 2 1/2 cups sugar and 5 cups water in a pot.
- Bring to a boil and cook until sugar has dissolved.
- Remove from heat, add lemon or lime juice, and set aside to cool.
- Mix all fruits together in a large bowl.
- Pour syrup over fruits.
- Cool in fridge before serving.
Bahan-Bahan
- 1/2 buah papaya mengkal, keruk bulat
- 2 buah labu siam, kupas, potong dadu
- 1/2 buah melon, keruk bulat
- 1/2 buah nanas, potong dadu
- 3 sendok besar air kapur sirih
- 1 liter air putih
- 50 gr gula pasir
- 500 ml air putih
Bahan-Bahan Sirup
- 750 gr gula pasir
- 1,5 ltr air
- 3 sendok besar jus jeruk nipis/lemon
Cara Membuat
- Campur 1 liter air, tuang papaya keruk.
- Rendam selama 30 menit.
- Tiriskan, cuci dengan air bersih.
- Tiriskan lagi, sisihkan.
- Masak 500 ml air dengan 50 gr gula pasir hingga mendidih dan gula larut.
- Tuang labu siam dadu, biarkan 5 menit. Angkat. Tiriskan.
- Mambuat sirup: masak gula dan air hingga mendidih dan gula larut.
- Matikan api, tuangi jeruk lemon, aduk rata. Dinginkan.
- Campur semua buah dalam wadah, tuangi sirup.
- Simpan dalam kulkas hingga saat disajikan.
