Global Competence Module 3: Building Bridges
In order to meet the challenges of a 21st century learning environment, educators are required to be globally competent. Learners are growing increasingly more diverse, and globalization has created a workplace that requires globally minded graduates. Not all educators, however, are provided professional development opportunities to prepare them for this reality.
This module final part of a three part training series presented by the Paul D. Coverdell World Wise Schools program at Peace Corps. It is intended for K-20 educators, group leaders, or after school program leaders who want to understand how to develop global competence in their learners.
By the end of the module, educators will be able to:
- Recognize the role global competence plays in promoting positive intercultural connections - locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Develop strategies to promote intercultural understanding between themselves and their learners; as well as between learners and their peers.
- Identify key skills their learners need to respond to the demands of the 21st century in order to best prepare them for the workplace they will enter.
