University of Delaware - Lerner College of Business and Economics

About this program

The MS in International Business from Lerner Business & Economics at the University of Delaware is a powerful AACSB-accredited degree program that provides you with the specific knowledge you need to translate your Peace Corps experience into professional success. This business degree prepares you to deal with the nuances of day-to-day operations and strategies of international business and public policy through three complementary modules.

Module 1: Learn the specifics of international business.

Topics include framework and assessment of operations in other countries, management and leadership across different cultures and economies, evaluating international business opportunities, and public policy.

Module 2: Focus on a particular business discipline.

Complement your international business learning with master’s level coursework in your desired focus areas such as accounting, economics, leadership, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, and analytics.

Module 3:  Complete a community-based internship

Apply your knowledge with a 150-hour internship in an organization that serves the local community.

In this program you’ll take your Peace Corps experience to school and into the community. You’ll use it as the basis for completing class assignments and building community programs. At the conclusion of this 30-credit degree, you’ll be ready to assume a leadership role in the public or private sector.

The Coverdell Fellows experience includes a 150-hour internship in an organization that serves the local community. The internship will allow the Fellows to combine their Peace Corps experience with knowledge gained in the classroom to help build capacity of those working in and with communities to enhance the social, economic, physical and cultural opportunities available to all.

As one example of this, students have an opportunity to work with a nonprofit organization, Leaders of the Free World (LFW), which was co-founded by a RPCV. LFW is committed to addressing the lack of diversity in leadership positions in both the public and private domain, domestically and abroad. They emphasize mentorship, intercultural learning, and leadership training as critical components of shaping the next generation of leaders and social change-makers. Other internship options are available. Students should discuss their goals and interests with the Program Coordinator to determine the appropriate internship placement.
