SIT Graduate Institute- Master of Arts in Sustainable Development Practice

About this program

Learn to create, shape, and lead thriving communities, locally, and globally with SIT’s hybrid master’s degree in Sustainable Development Practice. Combining online coursework and field courses in Nepal and Mexico, the program offers part-time and full-time professionals the opportunity to build skills in community development and social change without stepping off the career track.

Application requirements

SIT does not require the GRE. All students must hold a U.S. bachelor’s degree or an equivalent that demonstrates academic ability. Application requirements include:

  • A completed online application
  • Essays
  • Resume
  • Official transcripts
  • Three references

Admissions process

  • Complete SIT's regular online application process
  • Provide an additional statement of interest in becoming a Peace Corps Fellow (details provided by SIT's admissions team during the application process)

As part of our standard partnership, SIT offers Coverdell Fellows a financial benefit of 35 percent off tuition for any of our part-time hybrid programs.

Internship

As part of their SIT graduate program, fellows must complete a practicum of 150 to 300 hours in a high-need American community (as defined by SIT). The practicum must relate to the student’s coursework and career goals and be for a minimum of six weeks. Practicums may be paid professional positions or unpaid internships.
