About this program

Transform the traditional! Since 1964 Antioch University New England has been a leader in the progressive education movement. At AUNE you will experience coursework that is student-centered, problem-based and hand-on. Join with an active, engaged and socially conscious faculty and student body who are deeply involved in helping make school a more wondrous place for children.  Whether your goal is to work in a Waldorf School, a Nature-Based Early Childhood center or a public school classroom, AUNE has a program for you. We offer NH elementary, special education, and early childhood teacher certification as well as principal certification. We also have an Experienced Educators program that offers M.Ed programs for certified teachers who want to advance their careers. Concentration focus areas include sustainability education, problem-based learning, educational technology, and mindfulness.

Cost savings details

Scholarship equal to 25% of tuition (only) for the first 2 years of the student’s program. Please be aware that the financial package specified reflects the Experienced Educators program with full-time enrollment. The program costs and associated Coverdell Fellowships for other degree programs vary. All rates are for 16-17 academic year. Attending full time would be advisable for students seeking the highest financial reward.

Internship

All students in the Education department have a student teaching placement or a job-embedded practicum. We work with elementary schools across New England and Waldorf schools around the country to provide high-quality internship opportunities in a wide-range of communities. Possibilities range from the Mission Hill School in Boston to rural schools in Northern New England. And our Experienced Educators do their practicum at their job sites in schools around the globe, examples range from The Green School in Bali, and The Carol Morgan School in the Dominican Republic to Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan and Symonds Elementary school right here in Keene, NH. Wherever you work, we can craft a practicum that meets your learning needs.

Elementary Certification dual certification elementary and special education graduates are in high demand and are recent hires include the Kindle Farm School in Newfane, VT, Academy School in Brattleboro, VT, Symonds Elementary School in Keene, NH. Disnard Elementary School in Claremont, NH, The Juniper Hill School in Maine, Swift River Elementary School in MA, just to name a few.

Waldorf students are also highly recruited and recently, students have gotten Waldorf school positions in Honolulu HI, Freeport ME, Alice Birney Charter CA, Spring Valley NY, Urban Prairie Il.,  Orange Cty CA, Brooklyn NY, Princeton NJ, Austin TX, Woodland Carter OR, Sunfield WA, Lehigh Charter PA, Manhattan NYC, Boca raton FL, Whistler ONT, San Diego CA, Lake Champlain VT, Sandpoint ID, Madrona Charter WA, Boulder CO, Vancouver BC, Newtown CT and dozens of others in past years.  There are over 200 Waldorf Schools in North America and Antiochians are all over.
