School Basement Renovation

The School
Project by Zoe Taber, Volunteer from New York
Kyrgyz Republic Education

Description

The goal of this grant is to transform the underutilized basement into a dedicated club room for extracurricular activities and supplementary learning opportunities. Extracurricular activities are a vital part of the school experience, allowing students to delve deeper into subjects they are passionate about, explore new interests, develop essential life skills, and build meaningful social connections. Currently, with 757 students sharing just 15 small classrooms, the school lacks a designated space for such activities.

This project was developed through several collaborative meetings with school and community members, who are committed to assisting with the cleaning, renovation, and repair of desks and chairs to furnish the room. However, funding is required to cover the cost of materials and to hire professionals for specialized renovation tasks. Upon completion, the club room will be integrated into the school’s existing maintenance schedule and infrastructure, ensuring its continued availability and benefit for future student generations.
