Youth Leadership Summit for Boys Reaching Out (BRO) is a four night youth summit with the mission of developing young male leaders in Swaziland. Youth attending BRO Summit will learn leadership skills and tools like facilitation, effective communication, and role modelling, and confidence to conduct respectful relationships. Our hope is that the alumni of the summit will become role models in their communities. During the summit, Peace Corps Volunteers will support counselors , who will facilitate sessions and lead discussions on GBV, Gender Equality, and HIV, as well as facilitation and public speaking. Throughout the week, we will invite guest speakers from organizations like FLASS, PSI and the Men Engage Network to come and speak with the boys about challenges they face. The variety of facilitators will allow for the boys to receive the most holistic education on leadership skills, male identity, planning for the future and being positive role models in the lives around them. HIV has had a huge impact in many boys in Swaziland and providing them with these various skills and knowledge will contribute to them overcoming this epidemic. Counselors and Senior Counselors will contribute their time and labor to design and facilitate quality sessions for the youth.
