Theodore and his counterparts work to facilitate the SMART Sistas ICT Camp to empower girls.
SMART Sistas ICT Camp for Girls strives to empower girls ages 11-15 to pursue educational opportunities in information communication technology areas to help Vanuatu reach gender equality in the ICT field. 10 girls, ages 11-15, will be chosen from Vanuatu from each of the 6 provinces.

By the end of the five day camp, each girl and their parent/guardian will complete; 24 hours of ICT technical training in graphic design, web design, and technical support, 12 hours of leadership and gender empowerment training and 4 hours of career exploration in telecommunications, television, radio broadcasting, computer hardware, software and services and electronic media.

The participant’s will be asked to invest 10,000vt towards a laptop that each girl will take home to encourage continued learning in ICT with her parent/guardian and use while she acts as a mentor after the camp is complete.

The key objectives of the camp are to increase skill knowledge, increase self-esteem, knowledge of how to develop and master a skill and awareness of information communications technology related careers. SMART Sistas Committee is a strong collaboration between US Peace Corps Volunteers, US Peace Corps Staff, ICT Association Professionals (VIGNET), NGOs and additional. The committee began preparations in November 2014 and they hope to expand the program in future years.
