The Government of Comoros and the Ministry of Education have
requested the collaboration of the Peace Corps in implementing their newly
established national English language education strategy.
TEFL Volunteers in Comoros have the opportunity to participate
in the Peace Corps TEFL Certificate program, an externally-validated credential
based on 120 hours of training and two years of supervised teaching experience.
Peace Corps Volunteers teach English to students at the middle
school and high school levels. In addition, Volunteers design and implement
teacher training and professional development opportunities. They develop
teaching materials, lesson plans, and curriculum and providing technical
support. Combined, this strengthens host country English teachers’ capacity to
speak and teach English.
