Projects in China

At the national level, the Peace Corps works with the China Education Association for International Exchange, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Education. China views education as fundamental to economic development, and it specifically views English fluency as important for its professionals.

Volunteers are placed in Chinese colleges, technical schools, and universities to meet the demand for strengthening English language learning and teaching across the country. In addition to teaching oral English classes, Volunteers work in the areas of classroom instruction, teacher training and skills transfer, enhancement of English teaching materials, and development of sustainable educational programs. Volunteers focus on assisting teachers and students to improve English speaking and listening through creative and participatory language learning methods.
