Administrative Assistant (AA)

The Peace Corps in Armenia is seeking to hire an individual for the position of Administrative Assistant.

Peace Corps is a United States Government Agency that provides trained American Volunteers to live and work for two years in communities around the world. In Armenia, Peace Corps Volunteers teach English in rural schools, and work with youth and youth workers to support positive youth development in youth centers, schools and NGOs.

The primary responsibility of the Administrative Assistant is to provide a variety of administrative and programmatic support functions to Staff and Volunteers. For Staff, the Administrative Assistant greets all visitors from the reception area, helps to organize events and provides administrative support to the programmatic unit. For volunteers, the Administrative Assistant inputs volunteer payment and reimbursement data into financial databases, processes in-country volunteer travel and maintains volunteer personal files. The Administrative Assistant takes initiative, works independently and flexible.

WORK HOURS: Full -Time, 40 hours/week, Performed Monday through Friday

LOCATION: Yerevan

RENUMERATION: 9,640,208 Annual AMD (Gross)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

University degree, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, in Administration or related field.

Language Proficiency: Level 4 language proficiency in both English and Armenian, according to the Interagency Language Roundtable http://www.govtilr.org/.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Competence in using the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment such as: copiers, printers, computers, cell phone, satellite phone.
  • Strong sense of integrity.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure is essential.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, both locally and internationally.
  • Ability to pass a background check conducted by the United States Embassy

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree, equivalent to Master’s Degree or more, in Administration or related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional administrative experience; Experience working with Americans and/or international organizations.
  • Level 5 language proficiency in both English and Armenian, according to the Interagency Language Roundtable http://www.govtilr.org/; Russian language skills also helpful.
  • Working knowledge of United States Government procedures and policies.
