Water in Africa: Togo
Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa. The Togo Mountains bisect the country from southwest to northeast. To the east and south of the Togo Mountains, there is a sloping plateau covered with tall grass and trees. The coastal plain has swamps, lagoons, and palm forests. North of the Togo Mountains is a grassy plateau that gradually declines. The rainy seasons in the south occur from March to July and September to November; in the north, there is one long rainy season from April to October.
