Return to Water in Africa

The Bare is a pan where water gathers during the short rainy season when the Dakate River overflows. In the background is Umbwa Mountain. Folklore of the area says that the Bare and Umbwa Mountain were the home of a mermaid who beat her drum before a rainstorm came. However, she left sometime during the Revolution in 1980.
