Transportation
by Heather Cameron, Rosso, Mauritania
I live in Rosso, on the Senegal River. Rosso is an official border crossing point with dugout canoes carrying people across to Rosso, Senegal. (Towns on either side of the river often share the same name.) As a result of flooding in the area, the only transport method to villages up river is via these same boats. What would normally take four hours by bush taxi has now become an overnight trip by boat.
