The covered wells (courtesy of a German-Gambian coalition) have improved the quality of the drinking water. There are several open wells that are interspersed in the village. The water from these is primarily used for watering, washing, or cooking (not for drinking).

The wells are very beneficial to the people of Nema and very much appreciated. We have not witnessed any advances in technology since we have been here.
