Five other Peace Corps Volunteers and I created an educational summer camp for girls entering the sixth grade. We combined arts and crafts, games, and sports with educational topics such as careers, sex education, hygiene, AIDS, and first aid. It is not common for a girl to go to school beyond the fifth grade here. Most girls stay at home and help maintain the house with their mother.
