Six credit hours can be earned for Peace Corps service; financial aid is available for all MI students, including assistantships, grants, loans, and work-study positions; CSUS will assist MI participants with job placement during their graduate program and following graduation.

The Department of English at CSUS offers a master of arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) for MI students. There is no set course sequence for the program, though we advise students to complete the introductory theory course and the practicum during the first semester. The program consists of 27 units of course requirements, 6 units of elective courses, and a thesis option. MI students complete 18 units before their Peace Corps service. When overseas, participants will complete several projects, to be designed in consultation with the program's advisor prior to leaving campus. Projects completed during Peace Corps Volunteer service will fulfill up to 6 units of elective courses required for completion of the MA degree. Upon returning to the CSUS campus, students' final semester will consist of 9 units of coursework.

Bachelor's degree; minimum 3.0 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in the final 60 units of their BA; prerequisite courses (for specific prerequisite requirements, please contact the university).
