Benefits

Based on eligibility, up to full tuition merit-based scholarships available. Fellows who enroll as full-time students in the Early Career MBA or MBA for Career Change programs will be awarded a minimum $5,000 Atkinson School Peace Corps Returnee Scholarship. Consideration for additional scholarship awards or graduate assistantships are also available based on eligibility. The application fee is waived for Fellows.

Willamette University`s Atkinson Graduate School of Management offers Peace Corps Fellows the opportunity to earn the Master of Business Administration for Business, Government and Not-for-Profit Management (MBA). All Willamette MBA students participate in the PACE (Practical Applications for Careers and Enterprises) program where they serve as consultants and support the activities of selected not-for-profit and government enterprises. This service/consulting project provides a valuable opportunity to build real-world experience and contribute to the community through enhancing the operations of client service organization.

Description

Willamette University`s full-time MBA program is designed for students seeking their first professional position or career change. As a national leader in experiential learning, the Willamette MBA emphasizes "learning by doing." Internships, consulting projects, case studies, simulations, student investment fund, ethics in business awards, and the PACE Projects (where teams of students create and operate real organizations) build the knowledge and experience students need for successful career transitions.

The curriculum includes a combination of required and elective courses that build a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of general management; enhance professional, communication/ leadership, team and career management skills; and develop in depth knowledge in the following areas:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Global Management
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Operations, Analysis & Systems
  • Organizational Analysis
  • Public & Not-for-Profit Management
  • Sustainability Management

Requirements

Admission is based on academic ability, managerial potential and commitment to participating in an intensive and experiential MBA learning environment.

A complete application includes:

  • Completed application form
  • Official undergraduate transcripts
  • GMAT or General GRE score
  • Personal statement essays as described on the application form
  • Resume
  • 2 candidate evaluation forms or letters of recommendation

An interview is part of the selection process. Applicants eligible to complete the interview process will be invited to interview by the admission office after all the applicant`s documents have been received. Applicants invited to interview will be given instructions for arranging a telephone or on-campus interview.

*Applicants to the Coverdell Fellows program are also asked to submit a DOS (description of service) as part of the application process.
