There are 209 volunteers in Panama working with their communities on projects in English education, environmental health, environmental conservation and agriculture. During their service in Panama, volunteers learn to speak local languages, including: Embera, Ngabere, Spanish, and Wounaan. More than 2,370 Peace Corps volunteers have served in Panama since the program was established in 1963.
