There are currently 218 Volunteers in Panama working in the areas of community economic development, English education, environment, health and agriculture. During their service in Panama, Volunteers learn to speak the local languages, including: Embera, Ngabe, Spanish, Wounaan and Naso. More than 2,255 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in Panama since the program was established in 1963.
