There are currently 144 Volunteers in the Philippines working in the areas of education, youth development and environment. During their service in the Philippines, Volunteers learn to speak the local languages, including Tagalog and regional dialects as appropriate. More than 8,755 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in the Philippines since the program was established in 1961.
