Volunteering and Development: Mobilizing for Global Impact

9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
805 21st Street, NW
Washington, DC 20052
Peace Corps and the U.S. Agency for International development (USAID), in commemoration of the Small Project Assistance (SPA) program's 30th anniversary, are pleased to invite you to join us in exploring the critical role that volunteers play in community development.
Around the world, international and community volunteers work side-by-side, mobilizing community members in implementing grassroots development projects. At the event, we will discuss key questions such as: Do volunteers play a unique role in global development? Is volunteering the key to local capacity building? In an era of shrinking budgets, can "sweat equity" replace dollars?
Ms. Carrie Hessler-Radelet, Acting Director, Peace Corps
Dr. Rajiv Shah, Administrator, USAID
Dr. Timothy P. Shriver, Chairman of the Board, Special Olympics International
Ms. Marg Mayne, Chief Executive, VSO International
