Make a difference in the lives of others and your own. Stop at the Peace Corps table at the Government and Nonprofit Career Fair to talk to a local representative about opportunities to live, learn, and work with a community overseas. One of the many benefits of Peace Corps service is one year of noncompetitive eligibility for employment in the federal government after completing the 27-month commitment. This means that at the hiring agency's discretion, if a Volunteer meets the minimum qualifications for a position, he or she can be hired without going through the standard competitive process. Those who are employed by the federal government after their Peace Corps service can receive credit toward retirement for those years of Volunteer service.
