The Call Specialist position is an entry level marketing position that involves calling students who have applied to participate on an a volunteer travel program with International Student Volunteers (ISV). Our Call Specialists congratulate the students on their acceptance, answer their questions, and encourage them to submit their agreement and deposit to reserve their space. Call Specialists will also call interested students who have not yet applied, and invite them to apply and/or attend an information meeting on their campus.
Our Call Specialists have a key role in helping these students make a positive difference in the world by committing to go on a volunteer travel program overseas with ISV. Call Specialists must have excellent phone and verbal communication skills, and must be able to accurately keep track of calls made. You will be working with a team of Call Specialists and reporting your call logs and any other call information to the Call Specialist Coordinator.
ISV's mission is to support sustainable development initiatives around the world through life-changing volunteer and responsible adventure travel programs designed to positively change our world and to educate, inspire and result in more active global citizens.
ISV is a US-based non-profit organization 501(c)3. Since 2002, over 30,000 students from 800 universities and colleges have participated on an ISV Program overseas. We are a recognized leader in youth travel and volunteer programs, and were selected as one of the Top 10 Volunteer Service Organizations in the USA by the U.S. State Department (out of more than 1000 nominations). Over 310 universities have recognized the educational value of the ISV Program by granting academic credit to their students for participating on our program. ISV was recently featured on the Discovery Channel on In View with Larry King. ISV has also recently been certified by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to distribute the President's Volunteer Service Award to our participants, with a congratulatory letter signed by President Barack Obama.

Personally call university, online, special interest group, and high school applicants who have been accepted on an ISV Program.
Congratulate applicants on their acceptance into the program, and encourage them to submit their agreement and deposit.
Answer general questions about the ISV Program by referring to a pre-written FAQ, or by directing the applicant to contact the ISV office student care staff as needed.
Initial the applications you call and keep track of the number of calls made on an Excel print out sheet.
Take notes about each applicant indicating whether you talked to them, left a voicemail, or if the number is wrong or not in service.
Call interested students who have not yet applied, and invite them to apply and/or attend an information meeting on their campus.
Excellent phone and verbal communication skills
Positive attitude and enjoy talking to people on the phone
Comfortable talking to students ranging from age 15 to 30
High school graduate
Strong recordkeeping skills to record information from each call made
Able to adhere to pre-written phone scripts
Thrive in a fast-paced work environment and strong work ethic
Flexible and receptive to feedback
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Some college education
Previous experience working with students
Customer service experience
$9.00 an hour plus incentives
