About Peace Corps and HIV/AIDS: One of the most serious worldwide threats to public health and development is the spread of HIV/AIDS. The Peace Corps is a key partner and implementer of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which provides assistance to countries most affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Many Volunteers will contribute to HIV/AIDS initiatives during their service, regardless of their area of expertise. Watch our video, Turning Hope into Action, to learn more.
About the Institute of Public Health: The GSU Institute of Public Health (IPH) is a research and degree-granting program dedicated to advancing the health of the public through academic endeavors, training, and community service. HIV/AIDS prevention is a major theme within the IPH research agenda; faculty examine issues such as health disparities, community impact of transmission and treatment, and the role of social media.
