Peace Corps Receives Two Government-Wide Awards for Performance and Accountability Reporting
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 12, 2012 – The Peace Corps today announced that it has been awarded the Association of Government Accountants’ (AGA) Certificate of Excellence in Accountability Reporting (CEAR) award for the fifth consecutive year for the agency’s Performance and Accountability Report (PAR).
The AGA noted that the Peace Corps’ Fiscal Year 2011 PAR was exemplary in its explanation of agency activities as well as its description of Peace Corps’ performance management and measurement structure. Additionally, the agency received, for the first time, a special “Best in Class” award for the most through description of agency activities. Specifically, AGA highlighted the Peace Corps’ description of each sector, vignettes of volunteer experiences, and examples of notable activities. The award was given on May 23.
The PAR provides detailed information on our audited financial statements and performance results achieved. This report is submitted to the President, Congress, and members of the public as a measure of how well the government is managing programs and finances. Reports are submitted for Fiscal Year time periods.
AGA supports the careers and professional development of government finance professionals working in federal, state and local governments as well as the private sector and academia. To learn more about the AGA, visit their website for more information.
