Description

Arid Lands Resource Sciences examines the economic, ecological and social factors which determine the long-term sustainable use of arid and semi-arid lands. Students are trained in two or more of the physical, biological, resource, agricultural and social sciences.

The Second Language Acquisition & Teaching Program offers study leading to a Ph.D. degree. The cooperating departments include Anthropology; Classics; Cognitive Science; Disability & Psychoeducational Studies; East Asian Studies; Educational Psychology; English; French & Italian; German Studies; Linguistics; Mexican American Studies; Near Eastern Studies; Psychology; Russian & Slavic Studies; Spanish & Portuguese; Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences; and Teaching, Learning, & Sociocultural Studies. Students may choose from specializations in (a) second language analysis, (b) second language use, (c) second language processing and learning, or (d) second language pedagogical theory and program administration. Most students entering this Program will hold an M.A. or its equivalent. Requirements

Apply online to the academic program, as well as to the Fellows program. Applicants must be admitted by The University of Arizona Graduate College and selected for admission to the Fellows program. Fellows carry out a 450 hour internship each year, and participate in community service projects and professional development opportunities. Renewal of funding depends on academic progress and meeting service obligations.
