Description

Distinguished for our outstanding community-based research and for our focus on eliminating health disparities among populations of the Southwest and globally, the University of Arizona Zuckerman College of Public Health offers tremendous opportunities to students for education, research and community involvement.

The Master of Public Health degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary, graduate, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training.

Many Peace Corps Fellows have completed academic internships abroad established through international collaborations through the College. The Rural Health Office has also been a mainstay of Peace Corps Fellows internships in underserved communities across Arizona. Strong connections, class and internship opportunities exist in border health and Native American communities.

The MPH offers a program in which students acquire a sound academic background for competent practice in the field of public health. Students are able to obtain the MPH degree through one of seven concentration areas. Fellows may also apply to dual degree programs with Latin American Studies and Business Administration.

Requirements

Apply through SOPHAS! www.sophas.org to the academic program, and apply online to the Fellows program. Applicants must be admitted by The University of Arizona Graduate College and selected for admission to the Fellows program. Fellows carry out a 450 hour internship each year, and participate in community service projects and professional development opportunities. Renewal of funding depends on academic progress and meeting service obligations.
