Benefits
One-semester internship (academic credit granted) in teaching ESL before Peace Corps assignment for MI students. Four hours of academic credit will be earned for Peace Corps service through English 694: Reflections on Field Experience.
Description
The Master's International Program at Humboldt State is offered as part of the Master of the Arts in English degree, with a graduate emphasis in TESL. Students will earn a minimum of forty-one (41) credit hours. Students are required to complete twenty-four (24) credits before Peace Corps service. Students will return to campus following Peace Corps service to complete remaining coursework and to write a paper based on their field experience.
Requirements
BA in any field with a GPA of 3.0 or better, three letters of recommendation, a written statement of purpose, and HSU's standard graduate application. No prior study of linguistics or teaching experience is required, though students may be required to complete background courses in linguistics. Native speakers of English must study at least one language other than English.
