Description
Saint Michael's College offers a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESOL) Degree, through the Applied Linguistics Department. To complete the MATESOL degree, students will earn a minimum of 36 credit hours. Students are required to complete a minimum of 24 credits that include all non-elective courses except Practicum II, in a minimum of two semesters on campus, before Peace Corps service. Participants will receive eight credit hours for Peace Corps Volunteer service, by way of two four-credit courses: Practicum II and Reflective Portfolio of Peace Corps Training Experience. Students may return to campus following Peace Corps service to complete any remaining coursework, or they may be able to complete the program via distance education or transfer credit.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with at least a "B" average; official transcripts of all undergraduate and previous graduate work; three letters of recommendation; written statement of purpose; TOEFL score of 550 or higher for non-native English speakers (213 computer-based test).
